practice and the ongoing evolution of advanced nursing roles, which are changing to serve clients’ best interests. The revised framework highlights the clinical focus of advanced nursing practice and features a new section on the impact of advanced nursing practice.
The revised framework also describes future directions for advanced nursing practice. Nurses in advanced practice rolesmust increasingly provide leadership in solving the health challenges that Canadians will face in the coming decades. The implementation of advanced nursing practiceroles will involve needs-based planning and collaboration with stakeholders in health care.
Advanced Nursing Practice: A National Framework can be used for a variety of purposes, including developing educational courses, outlining concepts for research, shaping government position statements and interpreting advanced nursing practice for employers, the public, other health-care workers and policy-makers.
