Global Nursing Connections

Welcome to the CNA Global Nursing Connections

Global Nursing ConnectionsIntroduction

The database provides accessible information, submitted for nurses by nurses, about nursing projects, programs, policy and expertise in global health.

Whether you have worked for an inter-governmental agency or volunteered overseas as a nurse in a health-related project or are a student nurse interested in global health – this database is for you. We encourage you to submit your experience, to use the available data to build and strengthen networks and to learn from each other.

The purpose of the database is to facilitate nurses’ networking and collaboration by centralizing information in a readily available location – the internet. CNA will also use the submitted data for environmental scanning and monitoring of trends related to the database’s use and Canadian nurses’ involvement in global health.

Submitting Data

There are four sections: General Information, Projects or Programs, Individual International Experience and Conclusions.

The “Projects and Programs” section captures information on initiatives led by nurses or where nurses are involved.

The ‘Individual International Experience’ section will describe the experience of the nurse or nursing student who worked overseas as a volunteer contributing to health outcomes.

Nurses whose global health project or program is based solely in Canada are also invited to submit their information.

If you want to describe different projects, programs or experiences you have been part of, make separate submissions to Connections for each one.

Permission for data to be posted must be given before choosing to “submit”.

Providing Contact Information

By providing your contact details you are indicating your willingness to be contacted for more information. Please indicate if you do not wish your contact details posted on the internet. If you do not want your contact information posted, CNA will keep personal information private but does require it for purposes of maintaining the database current.

Nurses who submit data will be contacted annually and invited to update their information or confirm its continued use in the database. If there is no contact from the submitting individual after 2 years the information will be removed.

Viewing Data

All fields in the database are searchable. You can search by key word or by specific field such as ‘geographic location’ or ‘area of focus’.

The data and information contained in the database are provided ''as is'' and CNA makes no representations or warranties as to their accuracy or completeness. Submitted data is reviewed before it is posted for its appropriateness to the database’ purpose, not for its accuracy. If no contact information is provided with an entry, contact the database administrator to request that person’s contact information.

Engaging with CNA’s Global Health Work

At the bottom of the submission form, you are invited to engage more fully with CNA by choosing to learn more about its global health policy and development work, to participate in online discussions on selected themes and/or to receive news of international health events and activities.

Your comments or questions are welcomed. Please contact the database administrator
