Annual Meeting 2011
The Canadian Nurses Association held its 2011 annual meeting on June 23, 2011, at the Ottawa Convention Centre. Members of the provincial and territorial nursing associations, as well as interested parties, were invited to hear about CNA’s strategic initiatives over the past year.
CNA’s 2010 activities and achievements are highlighted in its Annual Report 2010.
Board report
CNA president Judith Shamian reflects on the first half of her term as president, noting her commitment to engage registered nurses in important dialogues about advancing nursing and health. Shamian highlights CNA’s leadership role on key issues in 2010, including population health, nursing research, medicare enhancements and the creation of CNA’s first National Expert Commission on the future of Canada’s health system. CEO update
CNA chief operating officer Anne Sutherland Boal presents for CEO, Rachel Bard, an update to delegates attending the 2011 annual meeting. The update highlights several of CNA’s successful initiatives, including the cross-country tour to strengthen outreach to members, the campaign to raise awareness of health issues leading up to the federal election, and newly published position statements and discussion papers on pressing and ever-changing issues in nursing.
